Hole #6: Hip, Knee and Ankle

The SME for the hip, knee and ankle.

Problem:

  • Hips are not rotating

Effect on Swing:

  • Lack of rotation of right hip causes standing up in the backswing
  • Left heel is pulled off ground
  • Reverse pivot
  • Loss of balance

Result:

  • Improved hip movement

Effect on Swing:

  • Right side loaded and ready to move
  • Reverse pivot eliminated
  • Left foot remains on ground, which leads to improved balance

Problem:

  • Left knee remains bowed on follow through

Effect on Swing:

  • Weight can't be transferred properly
  • Loss of power
  • Loss of speed through impact

Result:

  • Knee is straight with foot firmly planted on follow through

Effect on Swing:

  • Weight transferring properly onto left side
  • Increased power
  • Increased speed through impact

Problem:

  • Left ankle rolls out onto its side

Effect on Swing:

  • Loss of balance into finish
  • Unable to transfer weight properly
  • Loss of power

Result:

  • Stable ankle for firm support

Effect on Swing:

  • Good balance at finish
  • Transfer weight properly through left side
  • Power restored
